  • After I Do

    By Taylor Jenkins Reid
    5 stars

I confess, I love this author for her happy endings. This book didn’t disappoint. TJR has so much insight into people. Her novels always leave me thinking.

  • The Light Through the Leaves

    By Glendy Vanderah
    5 stars

This author has such a way of making you feel all the emotions. And there are many in this book. A story of redemption and love. It was hard to put down.

  • The Songbirds of Florence

    By Olivia Spooner
    4 stars

A historical novel containing some history I knew nothing about. I loved learning the history alongside a sweet love story. Beautifully written and believable.

  • Where the forest Meets the Stars

    By Glendy Vanderah
    5 stars

A beautiful story which twists many love stories together. I was captivated.

  • The Memory Thief

    By Leonie Agnew
    5 stars

A really exciting and though-provoking children’s book. I’m going to read this to my Year 6 class. Looking forward to discussions about emotions, memories and right and wrong.

  • The Butterfly Room

    By Lucinda Riley
    3 stars

A great story, which keeps you intrigued throughout. As often with Lucinda Riley, the speech feels stilted and some of the chauvinist comments made me nauseous! I couldn’t wait to finish to be honest!

  • Maybe in Another Life

    By Taylor Jenkins Reid
    4 stars

A clever book where parallel stories of Hannah’s life run side by side. An easy, feel good read.

  • The Girl With the Suitcase

    By Lesley Pearse
    3 stars

I loved the idea behind this book. But the writing was immature and predictable, and the storyline fell short of expectations.

  • The Ten Thousand Doors of January

    By Alix E Harrow
    5 stars

A beautifully written story of love, loss, adventure, danger and fantasy. I loved it.

  • The Bookshop Detectives Dead Girl Gone

By Gareth Ward and Louise Ward
    3 stars

An amusing read with a clever storyline. A bit cheesy, especially for me being a Brit in New Zealand, but quite fun to recognise places and expressions from both countries. A good way to pass the time but I won’t be seeking out the rest of the series.

  • The Last Love Song

    By Lucinda Riley
    4 stars

Another engaging read from Lucinda Riley. The storyline is good with Lucinda Riley’s trademark mentions of real people from the period. A little stilted and clumsy in places but an enjoyable read.

  • Forever, Interrupted

    By Taylor Jenkins Reid
    4 stars

A rollercoaster of a book where you are swung between Elsie and Ben's whirlwind romance, and Elsie's grief following his sudden death. I'm not sure if I was emotionally stable enough for it right now! It was a great book - I think I wanted a happy ending!

  • Carrie Soto is Back

    By Taylor Jenkins Reid
    5 stars

I absolutely loved this book. I’m not even that interested in tennis but got swept away with the story. Carrie is so relatable and you find yourself rooting for her. A classic TJR.

  • The Little Italian Hotel

    By Phaedra Patrick
    3 stars

I read this on recommendation from the book group I’m part of on fb. It was not great. A bit fluffy for me. The characters weren’t that well developed and it was all a bit predictable and feel good. Not for me but an easy holiday read.

  • The Secret Keeper

    By Kate Morton
    4 stars

The story of a young girl who witnesses a murder, and her quest, in adulthood, to find discover the reason behind it. I enjoyed this book, but find that Kate Morton books take me a long time to read. I don't know if I'd call it detailed, or maybe she just takes a while to get to the point! I liked the twist at the end - it helped everything to make sense!
