    3 stars

Reliving my childhood by reading my daughters graphic novels from the school library. Cute story - deals with real life situations.

  • The Secret Service of Tea and Treason

    By India Holton
    4 stars

Not my normal type of book, but was interesting. I didn't realise it was part of series and it may have made more sense if I had read the first book before this one. But it was still a good read!

  • The Year of Goodbyes and Hellos

    By Kelly Irvin
    5 stars

Well written and hard to read. The story follows an Oncologist whose own sister is diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. It tells the story of the toll this takes on her family, her relationship with her husband and her time with her sister. It is also based on the authors own experience with Ovarian Cancer.

  • Black Silk and Sympathy

    By Deborah Challinor
    5 stars

Great story, the first in the Tatty Crowe series. She sets out for Sydney from London to start a new life and ends up working for an undertaker. Love and dramas unfold. Well written and I look forward to following Tatty Crowe in the next book.

  • Black Silk & Buried Secrets

    By Deborah Challinor
    5 stars

Great read, Tatty Crowe is a fantastic character, a strong, wise, brave female who is also a risk taker. Interesting history as it's set in Sydney in 1871. Focuses on the issues women face around unwanted pregnancies. Definitely want to read the next book in the series!

  • Don't Sweat It

    By Nicky Pellegrino
    5 stars

Well written book about menopause and perimenopause. Nicky writes with humour and facts. Loved the little personal stories she added in.

Lovely story about overcoming anxiety, learning to believe in yourself and trusting others to help you out.

  • Lies and Other Love Languages

    By Sonali Der
    5 stars

Fantastic story, well written. Digs into the topic of how far would you go for someone you love and what are the consequences of that act (both good and bad).

  • The Cryptic Clue - A Tea Ladies Mystery

    By Amanda Hampson
    5 stars

Great story, set in Sydney when the Opera House was being built. Lots of history woven into the mystery. Loved how it also dealt with the subject of technology replacing the personal touch - instant hot drinks machines vs tea ladies.

  • Then there was you

    By Kara Isaac
    5 stars

Lovely story set in Sydney with a side trip to NZ. The main character is dealing with grief and loss and trying to recover from the effects of the Christchurch earthquake. While it is a novel there were many elements that were factual.

  • A Villa with a View

    By Julie Caplin

  • Pinot and Puha

By Nikki Perry and Kristy Roby
    5 stars

Cute! Nice to read a story set in Wellington, NZ. The main character was setting up a new bookstore and it follows the challenges and hurdles she has to work through, it has a slightly sad ending but leaves you with hope for a new beginning.

  • New Beginnings at the Old Bakehouse

    By Christie Barlow
    5 stars

    Cute easy read.

  • The Last Light Over Oslo

    By Alix Rickloff
    5 stars

Great historical novel, the characters were well developed and the challenges they faced were well described. I loved that it was based on a true story about a female US minister to Norway who was stationed in Oslo in 1940. It gave interesting insight into the beginnings of the war and the struggles they had to overcome to stay safe. Well worth reading!

  • The Christmas Bookshop

    By Jenny Colgan
    4 stars

This is a lovely story about two sisters navigating life and figuring out how to support each other. There is also the element of saving a bookshop before Christmas. And finding love as well. The children in the story were special characters too, I could definitely imagine them in real life! It was a very nice book to read, especially in the lead up to Christmas.
