The author investigates the life of her grandmother, after her death. It is an enlightening history of Albania, Greece and Turkey which had me Googling the major events in these countries in the first half of the 20th Century. This book left me thinking about how our lives can be interpreted.

A historical fiction novel set in Paris in 1895. The number of POV characters and multiple narratives, makes this book hard going at times. However, it pulls them all together for a satisfying conclusion . The author's note around her process and research adds a level of complexity.
