  • Direbound

    By Sable Sorenson
    4 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It is action packed, has great twists and turns, and it was a nice change having people riding direwolves, Instead of shifting into them. It was certainly a page turner! The only thing I disliked is how evil the original love interest turned out to be. It would have been nice for her to have doubts earlier, and be able to trust her judgements more (or for his acting skills to have flaws occassionally that the audience could see through before she could.) It made for a good twist, but a less believable bad guy.

  • In the hand of the goddess

    By Tamora Pierce
    4 stars

I read this with my 8 year old. She loved it, however there were moments that she found a little scarier than the first book. This book did bring the character arc to a conclusion that my daughter was happy with, and I loved spending time reading it with her.

  • The Ascended

    By Grenwich and Lennox
    5 stars

This story follows a similar arc to Riftborne and Driftbound in that there is a strong female character who needs to come out of her shell and meet challenges. The character in this story is strong, determined, sharp tongued and loves deeply. The twist at the end of the book was brilliant, and I can't wait for the next one of both series!

  • Duskbound

    By Grenwich and Lennox
    5 stars

This book was more complex, included more emotion, and we got to see the main character travel through a huge emotional arc. It was action packed and very enjoyable!

  • Riftborne

    By Grenwich and Lennox

The start of an enemies to lovers romantasy that is fast paced and very enjoyable!

  • The Shadow Weaver

    By Ivy Cliffwater
    5 stars

This was a wonderful page turner! What a debut. The story turns the romantasy "shadow daddy" trope inside out, with the FMC being the shadow weaver. The author begins with a short prologue which means the reader knows more than the character does for most of the book, leaving you enjoying the journey as she pieces it together. There is love, sadness, cruelty and moments of magic - all the elements demanded of a page-turning romantasy. Ka Rawe Ivy! I can't wait for part two.

  • The Ravens Eye Runaways

    By Clare Mabey
    3 stars

I wanted to love this book, but I didn't love it. It's set in a fantasy world where people with magic are kidnapped, raised to be drugged and used to produced books for scholars. I just didn't resonate with either of our two main protagonists, and found being left in the dark with the characters frustrating. It felt like the story sort of happened to them, instead of them making the decisions. This is despite the characters actually pulling off some astonishing feats given the world they live in. It was creative, definitely, and I applaud Clare Mabey for her work - it simply didn't resonate with me.

  • Thornhill Academy

    By Sheridan Hartin
    4 stars

Thornhill Academy blew my (admittedly low) expectations out of the water. This was a reading app book, but I would have happily paid to buy a copy. It's actually unfinished, I have simply caught up with the Author, and how I wish it was finished! The anticipation is real. The book is a fated mates, romantasy book, with fun characters and a good mix of light and dark. There are heavy themes dealt with tenderly, and humorous characters who being light to dark moments. This is my favourite reading app book to date.

  • Alanna: The first Adventure

    By Tamora Pierce
    5 stars

I loved this book as a child, found it recently in a book shop and purchaced it to read to my 8 year old daughter. It has themes of female empowerment, friendship, and enough real life moments that I have had some wonderful conversations with my child. We loved it so much we are on to the second in the series ❤️

  • Alpha's saved mate

    By L G Savage
    3 stars

This was a fated mates, miscommunication, strong female lead book. It was read on a reading app, and for those stories, was very compelling. In comparison to the other books on my list, however, it moved too slowly and the miscommunication was frustrating. Great slow burn tension though!

  • Silver Elite

    By Dani Francis
    4 stars

A Romantasy enemies to lovers story, set in a dystopian future. The continent is at war between two groups of people - the abberant (or mods) who have powers due to radiation from the last war affecting their genetics, and the people who were not affected. The book builds the world and thrusts our FMC straight into the action. It's a classic there's good guys and bad guys situation, but as we go it becomes much less clear who is who. I enjoyed it and will read the second when it is released.

  • Gallows Bridge

By Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
    5 stars

Gallows Bridge is the final book of the Series. It wraps everything up neatly. Well if neatly includes squid game style violence and spine tingling spice that leaves you questioning if you are okay. But seriously, it's a lip-smackingly satisfying ending. Another triumphant series by the twisted sisters.

  • Paradise Lagoon

By Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
    4 stars

This was the darkest of the books so far, but was also the spiciest and had enough golden flakes of humour sprinkled through to make sure the reader is okay. The cliffhanger in this one was really rough though! Not for the fainthearted.

  • Carnival Hill

By Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti
    4 stars

This book starts to wrap up some of the threads that have been hanging over us in the first two books. It leaves us with a horrible cliffhanger, but a thread of hope that things might work out eventually. All of this while knowing readers will go on a serious rollercoaster of emotions before getting there! It was certainly addictive

  • Dean Man's Isle

By Susanne Valenti and Caroline Peckham

This is the second book in a series. It certainly heats up, and you can see where the series is heading! Dark, but fun.

  • Brimstone

    By Callie Hart
    3 stars

This was the sequel to Callie Hart's fantastic Quicksilver. Unfortunately I found this one a little slower, and not quite as riveting. I still enjoyed her world building, but the characters were somehow flatter this time, and there were too many places where readers were left in the dark despite characters knowing what was going on. Hence 3 stars, where quicksilver was 5 for me!
