A light read although somewhat lengthy about a murder put down as a suicide. It’s been done before
Another odd ball teen who makes it work story
Another way to read history and think
A bit of a marathon but if you like a short story some of these may float your boat!
Good book to revisit prior to reading to students
There comes a familiarity in the style as you read more books by Fleur Beale. I can see the attraction of students binge reading this lovely local author
Good to see different forms of these stories. Fascinating!
Lives collide in Aotearoa. A good read
I wouldn’t want to be in the land of media
Great for kids about to go tramping
Nice story to introduce inquiry themes
Reviewing for school
Reviewing for start of school year
A lovely small town story.
Unicorns with more blood and guts and less cute
Slow start
Humour for all ages!
A classic
Taking this overseas with me
I think this book is destined for film. Action, atua, adventure. A great nz adventure for year 5 up
If you like reading John Green you will love the kiwi set story of two old friends
Finally read a book one of my siblings wrote! If you like Christmas performances this book is for you!
This is a fantastic resource I plan to use at school.
A delightful young read about two friends who discover a kiwi and save it from being poached.
This is a great book for year 6 plus readers. Lots of action. Kids at the centre. A NZ story with great adventure. Twins end up on a mission into the underworld to save their mother. A few twists and turns and fantastic mythical characters some who you know and some you don’t.
School girls navigating how it is to be Samoan in N Z. All expressions are valid.
This trilogy has grown on me as deviates from other dystopian fiction. The worst part of this new enjoyment is that part three isn’t out until later in 2026!
A NZ dystopian story. The first in a trilogy. Takes half the book to set the scene. Echos of many of those dystopian books you have already read. Will be interesting to see where book 2 meanders
A dystopian New Zealand where schools are created for profit and channel students into penal institutions for more still. This story centres around a brave young girl prepared to have her voice heard and becoming the unsuspecting centre of a movement that brings about change. This is not a book for you if you can’t stomach hitting or beatings. A thought provoking read.
Two narrators. Billie and Jeremiah. Young love. Family summers. Celebrating a life well lived in a house full of memories
A lovely story by the author of Goldfish Boy. A lovely resolution and tween read
This is a light romantic read. Nice characters but a little overdone in places. While predictable it is nice to know there are happy endings!
Simple story but seems odd no one has any problem the main character has travelled in time.
This tween read is about a teen getting her life back in order after the loss of her younger brother. Easy read but may be a hard topic for some teens.
Good to listen to while travelling to and from school. Happy ending guaranteed
