This book is ideal for the coffee table (you can jump in and out and repeat). "It is richly illustrated book, Māori scholars and writers share the traditional knowledge passed down through generations by word of mouth. It offers a unique insight into the relationship of the people of this land with their environment, as well as the profound knowledge and necessary skills they possessed for survival."
Our demand to be green and use EVs, laptops, etc., means that some poor child or adult in the DRMC (Congo) is mining cobalt (an essential component to almost every lithium-ion rechargeable battery made today), harming their lives and environment for our demands to be green. The evidence is stark; we are implicated in what is happening in the Congo. Not the most enjoyable book to read because of its far-reaching impacts.
The 3rd book, similar to Book 1, focuses on Ruth's life, the people she helps, her family, her travels, her sailing, her bookshop customers, and the highs and lows of her life. Enjoyable and colourful book all up!
"A story of glaciers, wilderness and humanity". Jemma is a glaciologist with 30 years of experience studying glaciers. This book examines seven temperate and polythermal glaciers, assessing the impact of climate change and natural temperature cycles over time—an insightful look at a disappearing landscape vital to wildlife and our own existence.
Second Book by Ruth Shaw, owner of the Two Wee Bookshops in Manapouri. This book explores the lives of both the owners of dogs in bookshops and the visitors to them, including her own bookshop. An enjoyable read (different from the first book!).
In February 2025, Michael Palin travelled to Venezuela to gain a sense of what life is like in one of South America's most culturally rich, vibrant, yet troubled nations. The book focuses on his journal from his trip and the colour photographs from varied geographic locations, which together provide insight into a largely unknown country. Look forward to the TV Show.
Never a fan of the music, but having seen the MTV Show "The Osbournes" and news of his last show, I was fascinated to read the book. All up, I really enjoyed this book about "Last Rites is the shocking, bitterly hilarious, never-before-told story of Osbourne's descent into hell. Along the way, he reflects on his extraordinary life and career" Enjoyable read - Ordinary Man (featuring Elton John) sums his life up!
