Debut novel, a police British procedural, good enough for me to continue with the series.
So many quotable lines, I just love P. G. Wodehouse. Never fails to lift your spirits.
Another great instalment in the series by Robert Galbraith )aka J.K. Rowling). The complicated plot was a little hard to follow, but excellent quality writing.
An unexpected Outback road trip, a small dog, an insight into the effects of anxiety, and the suggestion of a happy ending - well written and enjoyable book.
First published in 1949, this is a traditional, British detective mystery. Interesting for the social history details (rationing, smoking) as well the plot.
I can highly recommend In the Blink of an Eye, Leave No Trace, and Human Remains (this book) by Jo Callaghan. These are (UK) police procedurals that explore the use of artificial intelligence in solving crimes. The explanations and implications of AI are well handled, the character development is great, and the writing style reminds me of Ann Cleeves. Fingers crossed that there will be more in this series...
Definitely in the Romance genre, Two colleagues, a fake romance for work purposes, you can guess the ending :) Enjoyable and well written.
The first book in this series (In the Blink of an Eye) was excellent, this one is just as good. A detective works with an AI system as part of the crime-solving team to solve cases. Lots of AI issues are deftly woven into the plot. Recommended, but do start with the first title.
A mystery/thriller set in Masterton. Well written, but overall, quite depressing - perhaps too realistic for holiday reading :)
A poignant ending to the final book in this fifteen-volume series featuring Jane Austen as an amateur sleuth. The books capture her voice, weave in biographical details, and provide fascinating insights into aspects of Regency life. If you are a Jane Austen fan, and enjoy historical mysteries, start at the beginning with "Jane and the Unpleasantness at Scargrave Manor".
Well written, memorable characters.
A lost bookshop, a lost manuscript, and a bit of magic. Well written.
A followup/sequel to "Rachel's Holiday" by the same author. Not my usual genre (this is probably in the chick-lit category), but well written and enjoyable, and I learned a little about addiction counseling.
