This was wonderful in terms of characterisation and immersing you into the world of nursing during the Vietnam war. It just fell down a bit at the end when a series of increasingly improbably twists felt just a little forced.
Outstanding. Twisty until the very end and it made 1950's America come alive.
Having hear Zoe Rankin speak about her book at a local library evening, I really wanted to read this book. It wasn't disappointing. In her talk, Rankin said she is a meticulous planner and you can see that throughout the book. It twists and turns. It was so unpredictable. The ending was a little bit of a stretch but this is a very strong debut novel and I'm looking forward to more.
The sequel to 'Strike The Zither'. Again, brilliantly written. Diverse, interesting and unique. A great read.
This is a retelling of the famous Chinese tale, 'Three Kingdoms'. It's different and brilliantly written.
This is a brilliantly written book but, my goodness, does it take its time to get anywhere. The last third is wonderful as the story comes together and you realise why you've had endless backstories and side quests.
Like all good series, the protagonist had to grow up and the story get darker. Overall, this works in the latest instalment of Morrigan Crow's adventures, but this one took me a little while to get into. I am still hooked though!
I'm now fully immersed in Mog's world. This is another page turner in this series for young adults. Plenty of plot twists but still a strong focus on friends, family and identity.
A brilliant NZ book. Plenty of local references but a timeless story.
A great sequel with plenty of twists and turns.
An excellent and highly entertaining YA fantasy book.
