My favourite book of the summer. Couldn't put it down, similarities to The Wild Robot. Very topical in today's climate with AI.
Nassim Taleb has regularly come up on my feed as an intellect of note, so this summer I tackled one of his more known works The Black Swan by audio book. All 15 hours and 48 minutes of it. It was at times tedious and monotonous and at times interesting and noteworthy. I came away with a sense of being explained all manner of things about the world and then feeling like I know nothing at all. My core takeaway is to get comfortable with uncertainty.
A gripping intense read I grabbed it for my TBR this summer because our highschool students explore themes of gender inequality and oppression and want to supplement their reading with different texts. This fits the bill nicely, it's both short in length but very accessible as written from a child's POV. Would recommend for mature Intermediate students and up.
I read this to my 7 year old daughter over the summer - suits lovers of the fantasy realm, it trots out all the usual fantasy cliches. Magyk - witches - swamp boggarts - wizards - magyk rings and dragons to name a few. Like Harry Potter there is a tad of violence so be prepared for a read aloud.
Children Book Awards book set in Colonial New Zealand. Would interest fans of historical fiction
