    Such a captivating read although it did send me into a nihilistic spiral. Very character driven and the theme of time was woven through very effectively. I will be thinking about this book for a while.

    I really couldn’t get into this at first but I’m glad I pushed on. It gave glimpses into life as a member of the first Māori Battalion which gave me a new understanding of what when on that was more than just fighting a common “enemy”. Still not sure how I feel about the ending though…
