As titled. Great guide for a layman to find constellations, meteor showers, eclipses, etc.

  • Beyond & Within: Creative Futures

    By Allen Stroud
    5 stars

Based on an imagined future timeline created by Defense Science and Technology Laboratory, several authors speculated on what our world could be like in the future. Great read, interesting characters, and fascinating ideas.

  • Now

I enjoyed this better than the second book.

  • Then

    By Morris Gleitzman
    3 stars

This gutted me even more than the first book in the series.

  • The Silent One

    By Joy Cowley
    4 stars

    Beautiful, heartbreaking story.

  • McSweeney's Mammoth Treasury of Thrilling Tales

    By Mike Chabon
    3 stars

This was not "thrilling" for the majority of the tales for me. I enjoyed the editor's short story the most and felt it actually fit the title.

  • Chalice

    By Robin McKinley
    3 stars

Beautiful world and interesting characters, just a bit too slow on the plot to reach higher marks. It feels like there should be more.

  • Wildwood Dancing

    By Juliet Marillier
    5 stars

Marillier writes beautiful fairy tales. This one is set in Transylvania.

  • Migration

    By Steph Matuku
    4 stars

I waffle between 3 and 4 stars. The world building is fun and exciting, but often I feel the characters fall a little flat, which stinks because I like them. It feels like there is a lot of telling and not showing, and the pacing at the end feels out of whack, really rushing to the end.

  • Haerenga: Early Maori Journeys Across the Globe

    By Vincent O'Malley
    4 stars

  • Bird of the Year:Twenty Years of Ruffled Feathers

    By Ellen Ruckers
    5 stars

This is an informative and witty book about the birds that have won Bird of the Year, inlcuding bird facts and shenanigans during their campaigns over the years.

Book 7 in the Robots Series, the story moves on with R. Daneel, Lady Gladia, and Giskard. The story and universe building continues to shine.

  • 1984

    By George Orwell
    5 stars

Written in 1949, this classic dystopian novel eerily prophesied a surveillance-crazy society and portrayed what could happen when the government abuses and misuses this technology to stalk and control its citizens.
