Another re-read of a past favourite.
A lovely summer re-read of a classic.
This was a grubbier version of the Devil Wears Prada, and could have been edited down by about 25%, but it had me laughing out loud in places and the 00's nostalgia was brilliant.
A very readable deep dive into the Siege of Leningrad during World War 2. Provides a very good insight into the military and civilian mindset of Russia which doesn't seem to have changed much. Also provides excellent context to The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons.
I had very little knowledge of this despot. Helps to understand another favourite book of mine, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver.
One of the few people to become a major celebrity in the party scene and live to tell the tale. Some great insights into New York in the 90s.
Funny and educational...my two favourites!
