This is the book where Sara Linton (from the Grant County series) meets Will Trent. I love the way the narrative switches between their points of view and you can see how they view each other. More character development and relationships dynamics explored - Trent and Angie, Trent and Faith (so cool / funny - like brother and sister). The description of the torture was a bit much but that’s this author’s style. There’s a Will Trent series on Disney which I’ve started watching and it’s not bad.
Love Will Trent, such a great character with a well developed background. Love the mystery and who done it element of Slaughter’s books as well as the character development and relationships.
I love this lady! She does really great little 5 min videos on you tube covering different aspects of adhd. Her book is exactly the same style, which I love. She talks about her life and what she’s gone through due to ADHD and the trauma of her mum dying. It’s very honest and raw at times. She’s done a lot of research and has loads of ADHDers voices on here (at the end of each chapter ). She talks quite fast (I listened to audiobook) but I like that.
First of the Will Trent series. I love the main characters, their back stories and their relationships with each other. The twist in this book was very clever. Love her writing style even though it can be over descriptive in the violent scenes.
This is the last book in the Grant County series. I’ve really loved this series as Slaughter’s writing style and characterisation are great. The detail around the murders / attacks is a bit gruesome at times and you’ve got to be able to suspend disbelief to get through the series as so much bad stuff happens to the main characters. Love it though.
Listened to audiobook on drives / walks - narrated by the author. His voice is really soothing and easy to listen to. The research and facts about the brain are very interesting. It reinforces what I already believed in and backed it up with evidence. Some take aways: resting your brain activates the default part of your brain - very important for mental well being, being in nature, touching (hugging??) trees is good, exercise, sleep, taking time off from work - 5 mins here or there etc... He really emphasises doing nothing and resting, rather than working constantly, and suggests taking several holidays during the year if you can. All of it really resonated with me, especially the guilt we feel when doing nothing and that it is social conditioning, not natural. REally recommend to everyone, especially workaholics!
Some of the twists were easy to guess early on, but still a really good read. Big end twist still came as a surprise. Loved the setting.
Such a good twisty thriller! Read it in two days, but easily could have finished it in one, it was such a good page turner from start to finish.
A bit slow at times, but gripping and good twists.
