This is an inventive book about grief, moving forward, and making amends.
Third in a romance series where the protagonists have different disabilities, showing us what intimacy looks like for different bodies.
So many twists and turns, some I didn't see coming. Really engaging, especially as an audiobook.
This book made me think a lot about what colonisation looks like in 2026. There are some heartbreaking moments, but also several moments where I laughed out lout. Definitely not a class text, but certainly an 'I know you, senior student, and you may like this' text.
Heartbreaking recounting of a fight for justice. Teina Pora was in prison for over 21 years for a crime he didn't commit. Devastating.
Wow--this was a really entralling read. Unfortunately, it reminded me too much of Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go for me to fully enjoy the narrative.
I didn't see the twist coming. I feel like Skye wasn't well developed, which is why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5. Mei was fleshed out so well, and the plot was engrossing.
I cried and laughed and giggled and sighed while reading this book. As we know, Anastasia has great taste. She reinforced that by recommending me this. So, so good.
The narrator, being a 10-year-old, really made me remember my own childhood. Do you remember telling yourself, 'If I get this basketball in, my crush will talk with me tomorrow'? There are several moments like this. Also, the lack of worldly knowledge had me glued to the page, at times. That said, it's challenging to pin down the genre. It's a mix of suburban drama, bildungsroman, and thriller.
As soon as I started listening, my first feeling was, "I miss Auntie Cindy." This is a brilliant memoir. I cried a few times, especially when she was talking about the March 15 terrorist attack. I really felt for her as she touched on the vitriol she received. I adore how she is determined to be kind, and how it was reinforced as she talked. Definitely recommend this.
This was a great fantasy world, filled with magic systems, powerful female warriors, and beautiful landscapes. Bonus for how it normalises queer relationships and nonbinary people. Shannon published this a few years after the Priory of the Orange Tree, but it's set 500 years before, so I decided to read it out of publication order to follow the full lore. Next will be PotOT!
I didn't find the MMC very believable, but I liked the portrayal of overcoming trauma and injury by the FMC.
Great queer story about finding love in the unlikely places. Reader be warned---I blushed a LOT.
I'm too committed to the series to stop, but I wish I would.
Funny romance based on Pretty Woman.
This was an amazing story. I loved how funny and thoughtful this novel is. It's about what it means to be in relationship with others and deal with our trauma, while also honouring the lived experiences of those around us.
Retelling of You've Got Mail by an #OwnVoices author. What a fun, spicy, Christmasy romance.
Lovely story about two friends who fall in love with a lot of Christmas around them.
