This book spans three generations of women within one family. It doesn’t always follow chronological order as it changes between three characters, however the telling of the three interwoven stories is done with expertise as the timings work well. This is a great undertaking as this book explores family relationships (both the good and the estrangement and heartbreaks), womenhood, love, fear, identity, culture and growing up. It doesn’t hide from the harshness and at times direness of life. I can recommend this book to mature adult readers. This is not a lighthearted read, as this book deals with heavy content and big questions. The ending was beautiful. Not too predictable but well polished. Trigger warning: this book contains mention of sexual assault.
