  • We Had to Remove this Post

    By Hanna Bervoets
    3 stars

Picked as a must-read by Wellington City librarians, this one-sitting read offers insight into the life of a social media moderator. I had little prior knowledge of this role, so the book was quite informative, although it didn’t fully meet my expectations. Still, it’s worth a read.

  • The Royal Librarian

    By Daisy Wood
    4 stars

A reading match made in heaven! As a librarian, I’m always drawn to stories set in libraries, and this one didn’t disappoint. The blend of English royal history—one of my favourite genres—adds great depth. The story really resonated with me, especially since my family also escaped Nazi-occupied Europe. The strong female lead makes it a memorable read.

  • Before the Coffee Gets Cold

    By Toshikazu Kawaguchi
    5 stars

Ever since I visited Japan, a Nippon title is a must in my summer reading! This book takes me right back to that spring, exploring a land so different from anywhere else I’ve been. Plus, the café setting is one of my favourite places, no matter where I am. The four stories introduce relatable characters, and before long, you find yourself walking in their shoes and sympathizing with each of them. This is one of those books that hits close to home in one way or another.

  • The Haunting of Hill House

I loved horror as a young teen, but as an adult, I’ve grown somewhat skeptical about the genre. Still, this classic was one I couldn’t resist trying—and it definitely lived up to the hype.
