Well. Wasn’t expecting that.actual historical fiction. Always like to see an author with a wide repertoire of style, and compared to Donoghue’s novel ‘ Room,’ she certainly has a repertoire.p oh sucky too many characters’ stories, spread too thinly, for me to get in my head.

The paradox of a good book. So good as to not want to read it. Well, rather not rush it. To savour it. To enjoy the detail. To read and eat every single word. This book deserves time. Even the main character says the same thing herself. Which surely is the authors message to us. Apparently it took her twenty years to write. I gave it its dues.
