A bit boring in parts as I don’t know if it brought much more to the story hearing his viewpoint. More like just a repeat of the other gifting book

  • The Mother-in-Law

    By Sally Hepworth
    4 stars

Good read. A few surprising twists and I enjoyed the different perspectives from the mother in law and the daughter in law on the same incidents. Quite interesting

  • It takes tea to tango

    By Melissa Crosby
    3 stars

An entertaining read, full of kiwi language which was enjoyable. A woman in her 40s, finds her husband cheating on her, leaves him and moved to a small town and purchases a tea shop. Has all the elements of an easy romance novel. Nothing groundbreaking but still well written and easy to pick up

  • The Berlin Sisters

    By Soraya M. Lane
    5 stars

Another good novel set in Nazi Germany. Two German sisters, a Jewish family hiding in their home, difficult decisions to make - to use their power to stay silent and safe or to help the vulnerable, therefore risking their lives. Well written, loved it

  • The Gifting Box Series

    By KE Ganshert
    5 stars

Great series. A girl with a prophetic gift, a boy born to protect her at all costs, a society brainwashed to accept only perfection. Would be such a good book study for teens at kura. Heaps of interesting discussion points!

  • The Contest

    By Katie Ganshert
    5 stars

Enjoyed this young adult fiction book. Kind of Hunger Games style. Well written and will be good to pass on to my teens to read now - clean fiction, no bad language or sexual content. Had me on the edge of my seat and really enjoyed the concept of this kind of dystopian society that has banned magic.

  • The Pianists Wife

    By Soraya M. Lane
    5 stars

Okay I actually loved this book. So well written - had me struggling to put it down. World War 2 novel based on many true stories. Two best friends, one German and one half Jewish. How their friendship survived the unimaginable horrors of Nazi Germany. A challenging look at the war through the eyes of a half Jew woman and how true friendship and companionship is equally valuable to passionate love

  • When you disappeared

    By John Marrs
    4 stars

Quite enjoyed this book, a couple of twists that had me guessing til the end. A wife whose husband just disappears and an husband who wanted to outrun a past that still haunts him. I enjoyed the flicking between the two main characters, the past and the present and trying to figure out why he left in the first place. Really well written. Some disturbing conclusions that will stick with me for a while

  • Leading Under Pressure

    By Ian Foster
    5 stars

Anyone who followed the All Blacks journey even just in part over the time Ian was Head Coach should read this book. A fascinating insight into what it takes to coach such a high performance team through covid and then NZR changes. What shins through most is Ian’s integrity, grace, genuine caring relationships he has with the players and the love he has of the sport. The little excerpts from players give Ian’s words the tautoko they deserve, especially because he never read them until the book was published. My respect for him and the whole management team and players has grown massively. Must read for kiwis

  • Unsheltered

    By Clare Moleta
    4 stars

Interesting read, set in a kind of dystopian Australian outback. A mother’s search for her missing daughter. It’s well written and emotionally raw. Makes you wonder how far we are from this kind of life

  • The Last Stars in the Sky

    By Kate Hewitt

Bit of a slow start but once I got 1/3 of the way through it was great

  • Want to know a secret?

    By Freida McFadden

Some good twists I didn’t see coming. A good easy pick up and read on a sunny day at the beach
