Great audiobook to enjoy with the tamariki these school holidays.
A beautifully composed fantasy blending aspects of the Little Mermaid and Cinderella with family secrets, sibling rivalry and romance. Total summer reading escapism. Highly recommended
I recommend this for parents of young children, teens, pregnant women and anyone interested to learn more about the importance of Iron. I believe that our busy lifestyle leaves so many of us exhausted and depleted of the key ingredients for good physical and mental health. Dr Libby gives clear explanations supported by research to explain symptoms, testing, supplementation and then how to make a plan for management of ferritin levels.
"You can't beat Wellington on a good day"... But if a stay in the capital city isn't on your bucket list this summer, then this compact murder mystery will capture your attention and transport you to the city for a short time. Kiwi author Rodney Strong takes the reader along for a ride with wannabe detective Nicolette Briggs as she attempts to solve a double murder. Lots of references to well loved Wellington suburbs, roads, parks and playgrounds as well as the obligatory gelato at the waterfront. If you need a post Christmas Dinner lounge-on-the-couch-and-read mystery or an entertaining read for the crib/bach or campsite, grab this novel and enjoy. The title is also available as a BESTIE - Two week loan from Auckland Libraries.
I am reading this book for a second time. With our tamariki the days can be long but the years are short so I'm checking back in with Biddulph's advice, tips and tricks for harnessing the strengths of our boys at different stages and supporting them to become the best that they can be. As a Secondary School teacher this provides me with some fantastic insight on teens - a stage my own tamariki are yet to reach. I like how accessible the chapters are in this book. There is time to pick it up and smash out a chapter before breakfast or to read aloud with my partner from the hammock in the late afternoon.
Fantastic read for kaiako over the summer holidays. This is an accessible volume to pick up and read then put down between other titles. I really like the efficient ways McGill suggests for marking. One particular method - The Yellow Box - is my key takeaway. He suggests "Choose one area of a students work to mark - just one section - and draw a yellow box around it. Mark it well and in detail, offering feedback that is sophisticated and above all diagnostic... the yellow box focuses students to act on feedback with a clear and specific framework".
A lovely summer read. This book tells the story of Jane Austen falling in love with a lawyer named Samuel Rose. Perfect for loves of Austen's work or those interested in the political and racial tensions that existed in her time.
