Cosy mystery about finding yourself, dealing with grief and maybe even finding love.
Excellent science fiction. Combines epic battles and world building while exploring the question of what it means to be a coward. Spensa must learn who she is - on her own terms, not as the daughter of the coward she has always been branded.
Revolutionised my understanding of chronic pain and gave me hope of being able to heal from it myself. Told as a family’s personal story through this process makes it easy to digest but still thoroughly scientifically grounded.
Fantastic imagining of life in the early days of Auckland. A lovely story of a wrongly convicted girl and her fight to survive in the wilds of New Zealand. Heartfelt, beautifully written.
Book four of the Belgariad. One of my favourite fantasy series that sees Garion and his companions off on a perlious quest to save the world. Ce'Nedra comes into her own this book transforming from petulant child to Rivan Queen.
